The School Council

St John's School Council was launched in 2002. Through the ideas and organisation of the School Council and with each pupils help, we have:

  • Sponsored a child's education in South Africa since 2003
  • Filled aqua boxes with essential tools and supplies to help those affected by the Boxing Day Tsunami tragedy
  • Been runners up in the Rotary Club 'Service above Self Awards' 2004 and 2005
  • Organised Talent Shows for our budding stars
  • Improved our Playground by raising money to fund a play court, so we can play football and other sports without disturbing other break time games and purchasing playground benches, where we can sit and chat with our friends
  • Providing a 'Buddy Stop' - at our school we try to look out for each other, so we thought it would be a good idea to provide a place where we could find a friend if we are feeling lonely
  • Supported Southport Winged Fellowship and Red Nose Day

Each year we nominate two representative from each year group, from Year 2 to Year 6, to share the views and ideas of our classes.

Being on the School Council gives us the opportunity to discuss and make decisions about issues that effect us, our class and our School, so we all have a part in making our School and Community a better place.

This year we hope to continue our work so watch this space to find out what we get up to.
