Our learning this half term
Our value focus this half term is Trust. We started the half term by thinking about what trust looks like and we discussed who would be within our circle of trust.
This half term in English we will be exploring the novel Into The Forest by Anthony Browne. The children will build up to create their own lost narrative as their written task. In Maths, we are focussing on our second unit of Fractions and Money and solidify their times table knowledge. In RE, we are learning about the Islamic religion exploring places of worship, religious symbols and the five pillars of Islam. In PE, children will be starting swimming for 12 weeks and in PE specific lessons, they will be doing athletics and then handball. For Science lessons, children will be learning about humans and animals specifically, food groups and fats within foods consumed, properties of animals including vertebrates and invertebrates and animal and human skeletons. In History, we are learning about Roman Britain which the children have been very excited about all year! We will be going on our trip to Chester to experience life as a Roman Soldier!
Please see attached in the 'files' section our yearly overview for Year 3 to see what else Year 3 will be learning over the half term. If you have any questions or want to further your child's learning in any way, please contact Mrs Fraser or our school office.

Medical Conditions
If your child has a medical condition that we need to know about or needs to take medication, please inform us as soon as possible. A medical form will need to be completed from Mrs Bond in the office.
Reading
We love reading in Year 3! Please ensure that your child keeps their reading book and record in their bag so that they are accessible at any time throughout the week.
We encourage all children to read for around 20 minutes each night. This can be done independently or to an adult. In the classroom we will be reading each day to ourselves, our friends and our teachers.
Reading books will be changed on a Wednesday morning each week.

We will be using Times Table Rockstars in school which can also be accessed at home too. Your child's login will be provided inside their reading record. In school, we also use Hit the Button on Top Marks to practise times tables and other areas of maths.
