Our learning this half term

Our value focus this half term is Responsibility. We started the half term by thinking about what we are responsible for and created our pie chart of time to visually see our responsibilities within a day.

This half term in English we will be exploring the novel Usain Bolt which is one of the Little People, Big Dreams books. In Maths we will be exploring time, shape and statistics and will be working hard on our times tables. In RE our focus will be within Christianity, focussing on rules. Our learning across our foundation subjects will take us to seasonal eating and desiging and making tarts, thinking about what plants are and carrying out some scientific investigations to further our understanding of parts of plants, why plants are important and what plants need to grow.

Please see attached in the 'files' section our yearly overview for Year 3 to see what else Year 3 will be learning over the half term. If you have any questions or want to further your child's learning in any way, please contact Mrs Fraser or our school office.

Contact details

Dojo remains our main method of communication. Please ensure that you are signed up for regular updates, photos and information and please don't hesitate to send a message if you have any questions.

Medical Conditions

If your child has a medical condition that we need to know about or needs to take medication, please inform us as soon as possible. A medical form will need to be completed from Mrs Bond in the office.

Reading

We love reading in Year 3! Please ensure that your child keeps their reading book and record in their bag so that they are accessible at any time throughout the week.

We encourage all children to read for around 20 minutes each night. This can be done independently or to an adult. In the classroom we will be reading each day to ourselves, our friends and our teachers.

Reading books will be changed on a Wednesday morning each week.
